Admiramos la espléndida armonía entre escultura y arquitectura del templo del siglo XI, aunque es una lástima que los no hinduistas no puedan visitarlo por dentro.
Para llegar allí, cogimos un auto en Rajmahal por solo 40 rupias los cuatro y tardamos unos 20 minutos. Una vez allí, ofrecimos nuestras puyas a Lord Shiva y nos maravillamos con los más de cien pequeños templos dedicados a los dioses hindúes. Sin embargo, la experiencia también nos dejó un sabor de boca amargo debido a los pandit codiciosos que parecen dominar el templo. A los visitantes les pedían dinero en cada pequeño templo o gran oración, incluso antes de entrar en el lugar sagrado.
En general, Lingaraja Temple es un lugar imprescindible para cualquier turista que visite Bhubaneswar. One of the best ways to navigate the park is by taking the battery car, which is enormous and very convenient. One of the advantages of visiting the park is the tiger safari, where visitors can see tigers in their natural habitat. Additionally, the park has a giraffe, which is a unique feature not found in other zoos in India.
Although the park is terrific, there are some downsides to visiting Nandankanan Zoological Park. During busy weekends, the park can be crowded, which can lead to long queues and delays. Furthermore, guides tend to approach visitors, and many of them are not accredited or provide limited information that is readily available in the park’s signage. Hiring a guide can be expensive and not particularly useful, so exploring the park by oneself is preferable. However, the temple is not just about the architecture; it’s also a spiritual haven. As Hindus, we found the temple a deeply peaceful place to pray, with no corrupt priests disturbing our meditation.
The temple premises are well maintained, and the garden adds to its serenity. We loved spending some time sitting by the temple pond, admiring the beautiful fishes. The temple is also a great place for photography, especially the attractive arch around the entrance.
One drawback of the temple is that there are no guides available, and some important sculptures are covered in cloth and thick paint. Besides, during our visit, the lighting inside the temple and garden area was not adequate in some places. However, access to the temple is free, and it’s not restricted, making it possible for anyone to admire this exemplary work of architecture.

Dhauli Giri Hills is an interesting place to visit for those who love to explore the history and culture of ancient India. This place has a significant historical background as it was the site of the Kalinga War in 260 BC that was fought by Emperor Ashoka. We were amazed by the beautiful scenery around us and the peaceful atmosphere that prevailed there. The steep hill brought out our adventurous spirits, and we were delighted to climb to the top to see the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, also known as the white peace pagoda. We gathered information on the history of this place and learned how it transformed King Ashoka from a warrior king to a peaceful Buddhist. Though a bit crowded, it was worth every penny we spent visiting Dhauli Giri Hills.
The Dhaulagiri hills provided a beautiful view of the city, which was an added advantage to the whole experience. We were fascinated by the beautiful Buddhist Shanthistupa and the Shiva and Buddhist temples that were present there. The Light and Sound show was another interesting aspect that we did not want to miss. It helped us understand the history of the place and the significance behind it. Though the Stupa was undergoing renovation, we managed to enjoy and explore the place to the fullest. The only downside was that the road leading to the hills was narrow, and we encountered traffic jams due to tourist vehicles. However, we did not let this hinder our adventure, and we enjoyed exploring the hills and everything that it had to offer.

Additionally, the temple premises also had a lot of shops selling spiritual books and other items, as well as delicious prasad sweets.

The location of the temple also means that there are plenty of food zones nearby, making it an ideal spot to visit on a breezy evening, particularly on Tuesdays and Saturdays when the temple is bustling with devotees.

Mientras que algunas personas consideran que la zona no tiene mucho que ofrecer, nosotros pensamos que Udayagiri Caves es un lugar que no se debe perder si se visita Bhubaneswar.
