Además del paisaje verde y el desierto, este campo cuenta con una gran variedad de retos que lo hacen emocionante pero no abrumador. El personal es amable y trabajan duro para garantizar que tengas una experiencia placentera. Aunque no es tan grande, el campo ofrece un campo de golf con todo lo necesario para que disfrutes la práctica y el juego.
El campo cuenta con una gran cantidad de agua y zonas residuales lo que lo hace divertido pero hay que tener cuidado para no perder la pelota. También cuenta con verdes grandes y bien protegidos por trampas de arena y con un bonito diseño de cada hoyo. Aunque los precios son moderados y no hay descuentos militares, el campo tiene una tienda bien surtida y un restaurante que ofrece una buena selección de comidas y bebidas para después de la ronda. Es importante mencionar que la reserva de Tee time debe ser hecha con anticipación para evitar dificultades.
Aunque algunos usuarios han mencionado un mantenimiento deficiente en el campo, nosotros no sentimos que este problema esté presente. La mayoría de las calles están bien mantenidas aunque puede haber algunas zonas más necesitadas. Los greens están en excelentes condiciones aunque algunos lugares necesitan ser atendidos. El ritmo del juego es rápido y el personal está siempre dispuesto a ayudar. Si bien no es perfecto, el Sonoma Ranch Golf Course es uno de los mejores campos de golf en Las Cruces y definitivamente uno al que regresaremos.
2. Red Hawk Golf Club
Red Hawk Golf Club is a beautiful and well-maintained course, with challenging holes and stunning views of the Organ Mountains. It is definitely a player’s course, as there are numerous sand traps, water hazards, and blind spots to navigate, but there are also large landing areas for those who can keep their shots straight. However, be warned that the rough is not forgiving, and there are rattlesnake warnings throughout the course. Nevertheless, the excellent greens and interesting layout make it well worth the visit.
Although we had to travel a long distance to play Red Hawk Golf Club, it was definitely a highlight of our trip to Las Cruces. The staff was courteous and helpful, particularly Johnny at the clubhouse, who went above and beyond to resolve some rental club pricing confusion. The course itself was a fun layout, with 5 sets of tees suitable for golfers of all skill levels. There were some holes where local knowledge would have been helpful, and a few shots that seemed almost unfair, such as the sloping green on hole #6. Despite these challenges, it was a super day on a beautiful and enjoyable course.
For those who enjoy a challenging and well-maintained desert course, Red Hawk Golf Club is definitely worth a visit. While the fairways are not too narrow, there are plenty of bunkers and water hazards to test your skill, and opportunities for risk/reward shots. The clubhouse is currently temporary but is still quite nice, and the views are simply stunning. Plus, with 5 sets of tees, the course can be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels. We can’t wait to return in warmer weather to enjoy another round.
3. New Mexico State University Golf Course
If you are looking for a golf course that provides a unique desert layout, New Mexico State University Golf Course is the perfect place to tee off. This course offers a great challenge for golfers of all levels while remaining comfortable to the eye. We had the opportunity to play a round with experienced golfers who were familiar with the course, and their friendliness helped make our round a great experience. We even had a close call with a Hole-in-One on Number 6. The Pro Shop staff was very welcoming, and the rates were reasonable, making for an all-around enjoyable experience.
With well-manicured fairways, several cuts of rough, and beautiful greens, New Mexico State University Golf Course provides an excellent playing surface for golfers. However, we did find the fairways to be a bit narrow, making for a challenging game. The greens were also difficult to read, always seeming to have more breaks than there actually were. The driving range is not reachable with a golf cart, so keep that in mind when preparing for your game. The course offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and is easy to get around, even if you choose to walk. With all this in mind, we had a great time playing the course and recommend it to anyone visiting Las Cruces.
If you love playing golf surrounded by nature, New Mexico State University Golf Course is a top pick. Besides the challenging course, the layout of the course itself is one of the most attractive features. The course is set on a well-maintained property, including old trees that provide shade while waiting for your partner or the other group to clear the shot, making for a visually stunning game.
