The trail is not too strenuous and offers stunning views, making it great not just for experienced hikers but also for those who are just starting out. Plus, you can even bring your furry friend for a hike as they will surely love it too.
The trail is also well-maintained even after a recent storm, guaranteeing a safe hike. The volunteers found at the beginning of the trail are very helpful, and we appreciated their advice on going clockwise instead of counter-clockwise due to a fallen tree. The views of the lake and streams are breathtaking and should not be missed. But make sure to avoid the heat of the day as you might miss seeing moose, which can be found in several areas where they feast on plants.
We highly recommend downloading a trail app as the trail is not very well marked. There were a few downsides to the hike, such as the numerous trees that fell across the trail and had yet to be cleared, and the fair amount of snow still present on one side of the lake during May, which made the trail a bit challenging. However, these minor inconveniences were overshadowed by the overall experience, from seeing five moose in various locations to spotting an eagle and even a fox, the running water was also gorgeous. The trail guides at High Country Trails are the best in the area. They are very attentive and make everyone feel comfortable and safe. They are also very patient with inexperienced riders and make sure they get personalized attention throughout the ride. Additionally, the staff is great at selecting horses that best match your level of experience. The horses and mules are easy to handle and are truly well taken care of. We appreciated that the guides made sure that each person that participated in the tour understood how to properly handle their horse or mule. Overall, the experience felt like a perfect balance between relaxation and excitement.
The only disadvantage of High Country Trails is that it can sometimes be difficult to book a ride. They do not have a functional website, and it may take a few attempts to schedule a reservation. However, once you get through, you will not regret the effort. The experience is worth it! However, the owners’ friendliness and the quality of the beers make up for any shortcomings in the facilities. All in all, Never Summer Brewing Company is a quaint and casual spot with a genuine local vibe, perfect for relaxing with friends and enjoying a couple of beers. We highly recommend it, especially if you’re a fan of hoppy beers and a chill atmosphere.

During our visit, we were impressed by how peaceful and picturesque everything was, from the water to the trees and the mountains.
Our most unforgettable memory of Lake Granby was renting a pontoon boat from Highland Marina and spending the day fishing on the lake for Lake Trout. Although the equipment isn’t brand new, it added a charm to our fishing experience. We were amazed at the various breathtaking locations where we could cast our rods. From the inlet to the outlet of the Colorado River, we savored the high altitude lake in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We loved taking a break for lunch at Indian Peaks Restaurant, which offered a fantastic view of the Lake. The staff at Highland Marina was friendly and provided us with the lowest rental rates on the lake.

However, all in all, it was an excellent experience and worthwhile even if you’re only able to commit to one hour.

The accommodations are simple but comfortable – think lodge feel ― and the lack of TV served as a reminder that you’re on an outdoor adventure. The food at the food hall is buffet style, but it’s pretty good, and we enjoyed the convivial atmosphere. We cannot forget to mention the fantastic young staff who work at Snow Mountain Ranch – they are from all over the country, and some are from around the world. They add to the overall experience and create a welcoming environment.
Finally, for those adrenaline junkies who want extra adventure, Snow Mountain Ranch’s dog sledding is an activity you don’t want to miss. It’s a thrilling snow adventure that will ensure an unforgettable experience. You will be transported into the unique natural environment, and you’ll feel the thrill ride that only dog sledding can provide. However, we must pay close attention when playing, especially with the wind picking up in the afternoons, making it more challenging.

The twilight special offers an excellent value playing 18 holes for $39 with cart, GPS, and cooler stocked with ice water. Friendly staff members and a gorgeous course in top-notch condition make Grand Elk Golf Club a must-play for any avid golfer visiting Granby.
