We highly recommend this spot for winter hikes with family and friends. However, it can get quite crowded during peak seasons.
What’s fascinating is the history of this land which was saved by the people of Topanga, who fought hard against developers who wanted to convert it into gated communities and a golf course in the 90s. Now, this area is a nature lover’s paradise with sub-habitats of flora and fauna that we can explore while hiking. It’s truly a triumph of community efforts over commercial interests.
If you’re looking for a peaceful weekend spot with fresh air, greenery surroundings, and little to no crowds, Summit Valley is the perfect spot for you. We visited this park last month and found it to be a hidden gem that we can’t wait to return to. What’s remarkable is that the trails are well maintained, easy to hike, and gentle on the legs. This makes it an ideal place to relax, rejuvenate, and connect with nature away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
4. Top of Topanga Overlook
If you’re visiting Topanga and looking for a scenic spot to take a break or even have a picnic, the Top of Topanga Overlook is definitely worth considering. We found that this spot offered a great way to stretch our legs and take in the beauty of the area without having to venture too far off the beaten path.
While the view from the Top of Topanga Overlook is definitely nice, it’s important to note that it may not be a must-visit spot if you’re already exploring the area. After all, there are many other incredible views to take in while hiking throughout Topanga. However, if you’re looking for an iconic solution and want to take in a peaceful and tranquil view from the comfort of your own car, this spot should definitely be on your list. We loved how quiet and uncrowded it was, which allowed us to unwind and take in the fresh air while enjoying the view.
All in all, the Top of Topanga Overlook is a great option for people on the go who need a quick break or for those who just want a peaceful and relaxing spot to enjoy the beauty of Topanga. Keep in mind that the parking lot and amenities are limited, so it’s best to come prepared with a few essentials such as water, snacks, and a camera to capture the stunning vistas. 5. Jalan Jalan Imports
Jalan Jalan Imports es definitivamente un lugar que vale la pena visitar en Topanga. Nuestro hijo nos invitó a conocer el lugar y nos encantó lo que este tenía que ofrecer. Encontramos muchísimas estructuras de piedra, muebles de madera impresionantes y pequeñas piedras y fósiles para comprar o simplemente mirar. Además, ¡incluso hay una hermosa cascada en la zona exterior! Nos sorprendió gratamente que nuestro hijo terminara comprando un gran hongo de madera en este lugar.
Si buscas decoraciones únicas para áreas exteriores, definitivamente Jalan Jalan Imports es el lugar para visitar. Aquí encontramos cosas interesantes que no se pueden encontrar en muchos lugares. The trails around Topanga are amazing, with great views and some gnarly descents. The staff at Topanga Creek Outpost will make sure you have a map and all the information you need to make the most of your ride. On our return, we were rewarded with a warm reception from the shop dog and some banana bread while we cooled down and chilled. We also received certificates with authentic calligraphy signatures to commemorate our ride. Do take time to visit the shop and browse their souvenirs. We will definitely return to this place as there are still so many trails in Topanga that we haven’t explored yet.
