Las mejores atracciones en Cullman

1. Ave Maria Grotto

2. Clarkson Covered Bridge

If you love covered bridges like we do, you definitely need to check out Clarkson Covered Bridge on your next trip to Cullman. It’s a great spot to spend a few hours, with a lovely creek, walking area, and even some picnic tables. In fact, we found ourselves chatting with a fascinating man named Steve during our visit. He used to be a «hobo» and traveled to different conventions. He even sang a few ballads for us! He recommended checking out the National Geographic documentary «Love those Trains» on YouTube, where he appears singing «I’ve been everywhere Man» over the credits. It was such a delightful surprise and made our visit even more memorable.

The beautifully maintained covered bridge and grounds are definitely the highlights of this attraction. We were impressed with the length of the bridge at 270 feet, making it the longest one we’ve seen so far. The old grist mill on site was also a neat point of interest. It’s perfect for photographers with plenty of great photo opportunities. The park is well-kept and easy to hike with wheelchair accessibility, making it a great spot for hikers and anyone looking to enjoy nature.

Clarkson Covered Bridge

Although it was a bit of a challenge to find the park due to a listed incorrect address, we’re glad we didn’t give up because the experience was worth it. We visited on a rainy day, but that didn’t stop us from walking the old bridge and trail. It was also a good spot to stop for a picnic and we appreciated the museum on site to browse through. The downside is that the parking was tight and limited, so be prepared to find a spot. Overall, we had a wonderful time exploring and relaxing in this unique and historic spot. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit an off-the-beaten-path attraction in Cullman.

3. Sportsman Lake Park

4. Smith Farms

Smith Farms in Cullman is definitely a must-visit attraction for foodies who love locally made produce. With its easy access off I-65, this small store is packed with a variety of products that are simply delicious. We loved browsing the store, which is laid out well and has an inviting atmosphere. While the variety of products can be overwhelming, we enjoyed trying a little of everything over the weekend, from wines to smoked meats, cheeses, vegetables, jellies/jams, pickled everything, salad dressings, peanut butter, candies, popcorn, and more. One thing to note is that they have an upcharge for using credit cards, so it’s always best to take some cash with you.

If you are a fan of smoked meats, then you must visit Smith Farms. They have the best smoked chicken that melts in your mouth, with no faux smoke flavors either. They also have a wine sampler, and we loved their blackberry wine. If you are a fan of browsing different foods, then Smith Farms is perfect for you. The refrigerator section can be a disappointment when it’s out of order, and you won’t get to see or purchase the cheeses. However, we highly recommend trying the fudge.

Smith Farms

Smith Farms is a gem in Cullman, with the cutest farm-like building, friendly and helpful staff, and mouth-watering smoked Boston butts. If you are looking for something extra special, try their one-inch thick Prime Rib-Eye Steak, which may cost a pretty penny; however, you will enjoy every single bite. They have a very large wine selection and plenty of pickled items. Whether you are looking for some great meat for family and friends or if you want to indulge in the wine, fudge, and cheese tasting, Smith Farms is a great stop.

5. Smith Lake Park

When it comes to exploring the best tourist attractions in Cullman, Smith Lake Park is a must-visit for music lovers like us. We recently attended the Smith Lake Concert Series featuring Maggie Rose, and it was truly a magical experience. The seating was comfortable, and the fall weather added to the charm of the place. What we loved the most was the scenic view of the lake, which added to the ambiance of the entire concert. It’s worth the 2-hour drive from Nashville, and we’re already planning to come back for other concerts.

As for camping, we read some negative reviews about Smith Lake Park before our trip but decided to give it a try. To our surprise, we didn’t experience any of the mentioned negatives during our 5-night stay. We loved our RV site, and the staff was accommodating and friendly. The bathhouse we used was clean and well maintained, which is always a plus. It’s great that they have a keypad system for entry as it adds to the security of the place. The only downside was the occasional barking of distant dogs, but it didn’t bother us much. Overall, we had a comfortable stay, and we would consider staying here again.

Smith Lake Park

Despite our positive experience, we acknowledge that Smith Lake Park may not appeal to everyone. Some RV spots are close to each other and lack shade. We also noticed some long-term camper setups that could be unappealing to some visitors. Additionally, there are no hiking trails, so outdoor enthusiasts may not enjoy it here. The sewage smell can also be an issue, and the park could use regular cleanings. Although we didn’t witness any littering during our stay, some reviews mentioned it as a problem, and the park could benefit from staff and police presence to maintain its cleanliness and safety.

6. 4D Farm

If you’re looking for a fun-packed, family-friendly day trip, then «4D Farm» is definitely worth considering. This hidden gem has an activity or attraction for every age group – from food, games and rides to animal attractions and more. Whether you’re looking for something unique, exciting, or just plain fun, this farm delivers.

One of the best things about «4D Farm» is its sheer variety of attractions. There’s so much to do that you could easily spend an entire day there and not get bored. From pig races and tubing hills to ziplines, roller coasters and mazes, there’s something for everyone. And if you’re worried about getting lost, don’t be – the farm is well-spaced out, with plenty of signs and helpful staff to guide you.

Another advantage of «4D Farm» is the ease of use. Bathrooms are scattered all over the farm, and while some may be portable, most are normal, with hand washing facilities. There are plenty of food options too, so you don’t have to worry about packing a picnic. And when you’re ready to relax, there’s a gift shop where you can grab a refreshing drink and browse for souvenirs or 4D Farm merchandise.

4D Farm

Of course, as with any experience, there are some downsides. Some of the bathrooms may not be up to everyone’s standards, and the farm can get crowded on weekends and holidays. However, if you go with a mindset of having fun and making the most of the day, you’ll have a great time. All in all, «4D Farm» is a must-see destination for anyone looking for a family-friendly, fun-filled day trip.

7. Cullman County Museum

If you’re looking to learn more about the local history of Cullman, the Cullman County Museum is a must-visit attraction. The small museum is well-maintained and offers interesting artifacts directly connected to the people, events, and wildlife of the area. The admission fee of $5 is reasonable, and visitors will find a nice and clean building to explore. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and you can even get a guided walkthrough that is one of the best to experience for a small museum. It’s an excellent way to get up close and personal with Cullman’s past and learn about the culture and way of life of past generations.

One of the most exciting things to see at the museum is the Pueblo-style stucco depot, built-in 1913, which served as the L&N Railroad until passenger service was discontinued in 1968. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, and restoration began in 1991. Visitors can see display cases containing items related to the railroad, and if you’re a history enthusiast, you’ll love exploring the old station and the connection with the town’s past. The museum is a great destination for anyone who loves train rides, historic trains, and historic depots.

Cullman County Museum

Overall, the Cullman County Museum is an excellent place to visit, particularly during Octoberfest when they have more exhibits on display. It’s a beautiful museum, and the staff is so friendly and helpful, making you feel welcome from the moment you step in the door. It offers a quick history of the area before and after Col Cullman and is an excellent place to start if you’re interested in learning about the early history of the area. The entry fee is very modest, with students only required to pay $3 and adults $5. So, don’t miss your chance to learn more about Cullman’s past, take a guided tour, and explore the town’s rich history.

8. Southern Accents Architectural Antiques

Southern Accents Architectural Antiques is an incredible place to shop for all kinds of architectural needs for an old structure. From columns to doorknobs, mantles to windows, and doors, this store has it all. As someone who loves the rustic and old-fashioned look, I was impressed with the wide range of vintage and antique decor available. However, some may feel rushed and watched while browsing, which can be a bit uncomfortable.

When we visited the store, we were pleasantly surprised by how nice the owners were. They were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to address any questions or concerns we had. Additionally, American Pickers fans will love this place as the store has tons and tons of stuff to look at and dig through at exceptional prices, especially on items not on display. We could easily have spent hours and lots of money here. The customer service was exceptional in every way, and we loved that they shipped anywhere in the world.

Southern Accents Architectural Antiques

One of Southern Accents Architectural Antiques’ unique features is their collection of reclaimed wood. This separate building is entirely full of old beams, nice barn wood slabs, and much more. While we couldn’t take anything home with us during our visit, we could have spent the entire day looking at everything. For those restoring a historical home or anyone who loves vintage/architectural items or just old things, this is a must-visit destination. However, the store is closed on Sundays, and visitors may need a truck or a trailer to bring their purchases home.

9. St. Bernard Abbey

St. Bernard Abbey is a hidden gem in Cullman, Alabama that offers a spiritual and educational experience. This historic place has been helping the community for a long time, and it’s worth taking the time to visit. The Grotto behind the gift shop is a pleasant place to visit and it’s also very educational. We learned a lot about the history of the Abbey and the monks who lived and worked there.

The church and grounds are breathtakingly beautiful, peaceful, and inspiring. We enjoyed walking the campus and seeing the monks and others praying or reciting poetry. The architecture is beautiful, and it’s humbling to witness the readers studying the Bible. The Abbey itself is huge and feels of the Spirit. The environment is conducive to learning for one’s mind and spirit. We recommend making a trip to St. Bernard if quality education and lasting life memories are desired for your children.

St. Bernard Abbey

The Abbey offers an excellent fellowship church trip that provides an informative and beautiful experience of our faith. The Bloomin Festival is one of the best in the area, offering well-made handcrafted items from numerous genres. The retreat center is a great way to escape from the noise and enjoy the beauty of the Abbey Church. It’s a peaceful place with beautiful grounds that we recommend visiting. The monks are inspiring and soothing, and we love going to church here. The Mass is remarkable, with the monks processing in and the bishop wearing traditional headwear and carrying the shepherd’s hook. The Church is beautiful in its simplicity, and the grounds are peaceful and calming, perfect for a reflective walk.
